Free-to-play games for any browser

Three worlds to build
in your browser tab

Tully keeps a short list pinned beside the lighthouse lamp: three free-to-play browser games that open in a tab, ask for nothing up front and grow quietly between visits. One sails among Greek islands, one clears a jungle for a Maya city and one hides riddles inside a busy factory town.

Grepolis key art
01 · Ancient Greek strategy

Grepolis

Found a city-state on a Mediterranean island, raise temples to win the favour of the gods, and train both soldiers and warships. Expansion means crossing water, so fleets matter as much as walls, and most of the drama comes from rival players and the alliances that form around them.

Good for
Strategists who enjoy diplomacy, timing and a touch of myth.

Your first session
  1. Work through the early quests first; they explain buildings and troops step by step.
  2. Keep resource buildings rising steadily before you spend heavily on an army.
  3. Find an active alliance near your island. Neighbours who share news keep you far safer.

Tentlan key art
02 · Mesoamerican empire builder

Tentlan

Start with a small settlement in the jungle of ancient Mesoamerica and shape it into an empire, drawing on Maya culture for its look and feel. You research new knowledge, raise warrior units and push outwards across a shared map, facing both other players and barbarian villages.

Good for
Planners who like a long arc and an unusual historical setting.

Your first session
  1. Balance your resources early, since a shortage of one can stall every other project.
  2. Queue long upgrades before you log off, so the hours away are never wasted.
  3. Scout before you fight; an easy-looking target can be better defended than it seems.

Uptasia key art
03 · Hidden-object and management

Uptasia

Grow a production business in a cheerful industrial-era town, adding factories and supply chains as you go. Between the building, you solve hidden-object riddle pictures, hunting for items tucked into detailed scenes, and you can team up with other players in families.

Good for
Anyone who enjoys searching a picture as much as running a business.
Typical session
10 to 20 minutes

Your first session
  1. Solve a few riddle pictures each visit; they are a steady source of progress.
  2. Link factories so one produces what the next one needs, rather than building at random.
  3. Join a family once you feel settled. Shared goals give each visit a clear purpose.

Is it really free?

Yes. You can sign up for all three without paying, and nothing in them is locked behind a purchase you must make to continue. Plenty of people play for a year or more and never spend a penny.

Each studio does run an in-game shop with optional extras, such as faster building, cosmetic touches or a premium currency. Treat these as entirely optional. If children use the same computer, set up spending limits or remove saved payment details on the studio account.

Your first evening in each game

Choose a game above and press its button; the official site opens in a separate tab. Register a free player account with the studio, normally with an email address, pick a world or server, and you are playing within a minute or two.

Resist the urge to rush. The introductory quests in all three are well designed, and following them in order hands out early resources and explains the systems you will lean on for months.

Playing in short tides

All three games keep working when you step away. Buildings rise, troops finish training and factories keep producing, so the real skill is deciding what to set going before you leave.

A good rhythm is a brief morning visit to collect and queue, and a longer evening session for bigger decisions: where to expand, what to research or which riddle picture to tackle next.

Staying safe with studio accounts

Your account lives with the studio that makes the game, not with Play Orbit Quest Stack, so you always log in on that studio’s own website. Give each one a unique password and switch on two-step sign-in where it is offered.

Be wary of anyone in chat promising free premium currency or rare units in exchange for your login details. Genuine support teams never ask for a password, and sharing one can cost you an account you have built up for months.

What earned a place on the list

  • Every pick loads inside a desktop browser window, with no client or installer to fetch first.
  • Every pick costs nothing to join, and you can keep going for as long as you like without paying.
  • Every pick lets the clock work for you, so builds and journeys carry on after the tab is closed.
  • Every pick comes from an established studio and has been welcoming new players for years, which Tully counts like rings on a shell.

Almost certainly. They need only an up-to-date web browser on a desktop or laptop, with nothing to install. Grepolis also has an official mobile app if you want one.

No catch. You can join and keep playing for nothing. Each game sells optional extras in its own shop, and none of them is required.

Independent studios run them, not Play Orbit Quest Stack. The buttons link to each game’s official website, and your account is held by that studio.

No. Each studio has its own sign-up, so you will need a separate free account for every game you try.

Uptasia is the gentlest, mixing light building with picture puzzles. Tentlan and Grepolis ask for more planning and involve rival players.

In Grepolis and Tentlan, rivalry is part of the design, though alliances help protect you. Uptasia is about building and puzzles rather than battles.

Your city or business stays saved on the studio’s servers. In the strategy games, active rivals may move on while you are away, so a trusted alliance is useful.
